Operation: Falafel is a modern take on authentic Arabic street food with a simple setup and with an open kitchen. I’ve heard so much good about them from probably everyone who has been to this place and I wanted to try Operation: Falafel ever since then. I had been to their Box Park branch and they have almost 5 branches and 2 are coming soon near you!

Story Time: We friends usually plan out where to go for lunch/dinner before a day or two and when it’s all decided, I always go and check the menu 1st and find for the best thing I want to have (Like 100 times I check their menu,haha) and then make my mind about that, the same happened over here also. Is it just me or you also do this?? Don’t be shy to accept it, haha. Okay let’s talk about the food 😛

I was so looking forward to have their Falafel Platter, they’ve two of them in falafel. 1) Falafel Platter, just the regular 6 falafels with kaboos (arabic bread/pita bread), hummus (boiled chickpea blended with tahini, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt made into a paste), tahini (sesame seed paste blend with lemon juice and salt made into a sauce), fresh veggies and pickles, For 19dhs.
2) Stuffed Falafel, I opted for this one because why not?? I’ve never had a stuffed falafel and I was really keen to try it out, the difference between the regular and stuffed falafel was only the falafel, but that was a big difference because you get 4 huge falafels (which you can barely finish) and they’re stuffed with a mix of foul beans, tomato and onion with Arabic spices. Who would even think of making Stuffed Falafels?? Opernation: Falafel surely did. A very filling platter, you would surely enjoy it if you like Falafel like I do! Stuffed Falafel is for 20dhs.
The only thing I dint like was the kaboos which comes along the platter, it’s really stale and cold. I would prefer the kaboos they make and serve fresh and hot! That’s the best thing, as you finish them or even if they get a bit cold they change it for you and serve you their hot kaboos out of their wood fired oven!! I would eat them all day, hahaha
Stuffed Falafel Platter
We ordered a lot of things and one of them was their Zataar and Cheese Manakesh, they’re a little on the pricy side. But by this point we all were so full but a slice or two of Manakeesh won’t harm anyone, Am I right or Am I right? Haha! Proper amount of Zaatar was put, usually at some places they over put the Zataar that you can barely taste any cheese, but that wasn’t over here! Zataar and Cheese Manakesh is for 15dhs.

Even after ordering so much food we ordered some french fries, because hey fries before guys, haha 😛 ( that was a bad joke, but that’s the truth :P) Crunchy and soft french fries! I even took a bite from my friends Fiery Falafel Sandwich tasted good, it had their crunchy falafels, tahini, shatta (tamato and chilli paste) and pickles in a saj bread. Fiery Falafel Sandwich is for 14dhs.
One thing that actually annoys me a lot is the price of the soft drinks, the can says 1.50dhs then why do they charge us so much???? Makes me mad all the time!! We ordered 2 of them and shared, 1 can costed us for 8dhs. I know a lot of places cost more than this but still it’s really pricy, isn’t it? I would be fine if it was refillable, nevertheless I had a great time!
The staff was attentive and friendly too, good environment and ambience. They’ve a lot of seating inside and outside, parking can be a issue if you come at a peak time, so yeah! My absolute favourite was the Stuffed Falafel Platter, get your hands on them soon!! I’m going back soon.

I’ve been on a mission to find the best vegetarian burger in Dubai, and I did find some great tasting burgers and some weren’t that great. I’m still on a mission haven’t stopped it yet! I’ll be reviewing all the tasty burgers I’ve had in the following days with my new series; Mission Burger. Hope you all like it!! Today I’ll start with Burger Fuel, stay tuned they have pretty finger licking good burgers!! Let’s get reviewing! 😀
Burger Fuel was originally found in New Zealand and they’re well known for their gourmet burgers; they have almost 11 locations in Dubai. You can find all their locations and menu on http://www.zomato.com or on their own site www.burgerfuel.com/uae/menu
Burger Fuel has two vegetarian gourmet burgers, 1) V Dub Vege and 2) V Twin Vege. I had both the burgers and one the 1st bite itself I was in love with them!! They literally taste so good and filling.

Let’s start with V Dub Vege, this burger has a different combination to it, They’ve a side dish munchy which is Motobites (25dhs) and it is made of smashed pumpkin, carrot, chickpea and ginger bites, and that’s what they have in the burger, they put almost 4-5 motobites with some melted cheddar, raw grated beetroot, salad, relish, aioli. 1st when I went through their menu and read pumpkin, I had double thoughts of ordering V Dub Vege but it was a surprise!! You cannot literally taste any pumpkin because of all the spices, chickpea and ginger bites. I don’t either like beetroot, but hey this combination is so so so goood!!! Frankly the burger on it’s own is a bit expensive but it’s totally worth it!! V Dub Vege is for 32dhs
V Twin Vege, is a mushroom, kumara (sweet potato), chickpea and basil pattie, melted cheddar, plum sauce, salad, relish, and aioli. At 1st when you read all these ingredients you think will this actually taste good together??? But ones you take a bite, OMG just so delicious and so yummy. The burgers themselves are so huge and heavy that you can barely finish them! The plum sauce has a little sweet and sour touch to it, that it actually goes well with the whole burger. V Twin Vege is for 32dhs

I tried few of their sides, like the sweet potato fries, smash browns, and onion rings. Sweet Potato fries (18dhs) are thin and crispy from outside soft and sweet from the inside, you can count in as a healthy option. HAHA! Smash Browns (15dhs) are actually tater tots, very tasty and a little oily too, but that’s okay. Maybe? haha! Finally comes the Onion Rings, (15dhs) crispy from the out and crispy from the inside too! All the sides are served with their signature aioli.
I even tried the Chocolate Shake, but um dint really like it. It was more like a thick shake and too sweet. If you just go for the shake then also it’s extremely heavy and very filling, better to think before you make your mind to buy the shake. Chocolate Shake is for 20dhs. The soft drinks is for 10dhs.

Burger Fuel is a bit on a expensive side and not pocket friendly for a budgeted person, but hey it’s really worth every penny! They’re not like the other simple potato and pea pattie burger, lot of different combination, taste, huge and very filling too! Give it a try and do let me know if you like them or not!! It would be great to hear back from you. Their staff is very helpful and friendly too! Parking at the Umm Suqeim branch is pretty easy because they’ve a parking lot!

Hello Hello foodie! I hope you all are doing great! I recently tried this new restaurant located in Fahidi Souk, 1st floor terrace in Meena Bazar.
I had heard and read A LOT of good reviews about this place on Facebook and by few other people, but we weren’t sure where they were located. We found out the place, Their interior is unique, they’ve an outside seating too which is good if you go in the winters. We were greeted by their staff and the manager as we entered and got seated.
As I always say every restaurant has the dine or not to dine experience and so does this place, we went twice and both the times there was something I dint like. Their menu doesn’t have a lot of variety in North Indian sabzi’s, very limited. When said about it the Manager was like we’ve a big variety in other cuisine. Umm not that big in other cuisine either. (That’s what I think.)
The 1st time we had gone it was a Friday, very slow service I understand it’s a weekend but we literally sat there for more than 2 hours waiting for our food to come. They’ve less waiters, food comes really slow. So I give them my order and I was really clear about it and said I would like to order Paneer Makhani, and I don’t know how we were severed with Kadhai Paneer. Dint like the sabzi a lot, I just like the gravy’s taste. I’m familiar that Kadhai Paneer has big chunks of capsicum and onion with big pieces of paneer, but this had more of capsicum, onions and less of paneer. That was a little disappointing to me. You should totally order their Roti Basket, that was the best thing I had that evening! Freshly made roti’s, they’ve 5 types of breads, that is Missi Roti, Laccha Paratha, Aloo/Paneer Kulcha, Pudina Paratha and Butter Naan. All of them were good even after getting cold. That’s how the roti’s are suppose to be. Raj Kachori’s presentation was pretty but dint like the taste, very average! The lentils weren’t properly cooked, it dint have theeka meetha chutneys too. My Uncle liked their Thali so it was a hit. Shikanji was a MISS, very watery and dint have any proper taste, lack of lemon juice and sugar both.
Paneer Makhani was alright, I’ve had better paneer makhani before, it dint have that makhani taste in the gravy. It was more of a tomato purée taste and less of makhani taste and again less of paneer in the gravy. Roti basket was good as before. Chilli Cheese Toast was the best thing of the evening, just the size of the toast was way too small then we thought but the taste was good, I could taste parmesan cheese, processed cheese and a little of mozzarella cheese too, it also had proper amount of chilli as the name, liked it a lot! Masala Chai was good!
So, this was my dine or not to dine experience at Desi Bistro. I also did speak to their Manager and Head Chef, pretty understanding team, good staff, nice interior, expensive food quantity wise, they should really add a lot of North Indian Sabzi to their menu! Hygiene wise they’re clean.
Overall Ratings: 6/10
Overall experience was okay, I wouldn’t call it pocket friendly at all and one time try is okay. It was a hit or miss situation.
Hey Foodies, how is you all doing?? Good yeah? I’m back with a new blog and this time it’s not about a new restaurant, it’s about one of the oldest gems in Dubai! They’re located in Karama, opposite lulu park and beside Atlas institute.
Venus is one of the oldest restaurants in Dubai and has been the best with their South Indian dishes!! I believe every restaurant has the good and the bad dishes, so does Venus. Whenever we get confused or don’t know where to go for dinner we always opt for Venus.
We usually order their dosa’s or thali’s. My mom is a fan or their Medu Vada dip in Sambhar, she almost has it as her fix order, haha. There are a lot of things I like/love and few dislike. You should have their Mysore Masala/Sada Dosa, Paratha Korma, Medu Vada Dip in Sambhar, Thali, Set Dosa and Sada Dosa, etc. (That’s a lot of things I like/love) They make the BEST Sambhar, Chutneys and Rassam! A must have side. I haven’t had the same sambhar or chutney anywhere else until today! The shambar keeps boiling or simmering the whole time which makes it taste so good and fresh.
Recently we had been to venus and thought of trying something different and we ordered their Venus Special punjabi sabzi, actually the staff told us that it’s a very good sabzi so we gave it a try, NO a big NO. The taste of the gravy was okay not the best and it was confusing, there were a lot of khada masala (whole spices) frozen vegetables, little bit of paneer crumble and lot of spices. Even the naan was too chewy and hard to break. So that was a disappointment! Roti’s and naans are always suppose to be breakable and soft to eat even when they get cold.
I think you should mostly stick to the South Indian rather than the North Indian food, but you should always give a try to new things too if you’re feeling adventurous, haha.
Recently they’ve renovated this place and it looks better than before with more tables added, they should do some changes too like their chairs, cutlery, etc! Hygiene wise they’re clean, very good and friendly Manager and staff. The prices have gone higher a dirhams or two for everything after the renovation and few items have been added to the menu. I would still say they’re quite pocket friendly!!
Money wise: 3/5
And overall I would rate: 8.5/10.

Hello Foodies, how are you all foodies doing?? Yummilious? Haha. I’m back after trying a New Vegetarian Restaurant, Sangam Restaurant and Sweets. They’ve just opened 2-3months ago, Opposite ENOC Head Office, Near Lamcy Plaza, Oud Metha, Dubai. They’ve a branch in Abu Dhabi also.
Sangam Restaurant has a wide range in their menu, they serve North, South and Chinese Cuisine. But, they haven’t started serving their Chinese Cuisine still.
As we entered the 1st thing that came to my mind was, this place is spacious and quite big, it was even busy around 10:30 pm and I’ve already been here twice.
Our 1st time order, from left to right, Mysore Sada Dosa, Tandoori Platter, Onion Tomato Chilly Uthappam, Paratha Korma, Paratha Channa, and RasMalai.
Tandoori platter was good and flavourful, what I dint like about it was their harabhara kebabs, they were extremely hard to break and very dry from the inside. Seekh kebab and Paneer tikka was tasty and even had the real taste of tandoor, Paratha kurma and Paratha channa was also good, the channa gravy had both North and South taste to it, with all the garam masala and spiciness it tasted really good. Uthappam was also good! I had also ordered their Rasmalai but na I dint like it. I’ve had better Rasmalai’s, very average. Oh, I forgot about Mysore sada dosa, really liked it. It had a little sour after taste, their chutneys and shambar tasted good and freshly made.
I really loved Paneer Achari tikka, that achari taste to paneer and that too it was tandoored which made everything just too good. It’s was a little spicy because of the marination but totally worth trying. The two Subzi’s one I liked and the other was absolutely a No No. Both the subzi’s look ditto similar and had a very similar taste too, just difference it had was that one Sabzi’s gravy was thicker and more tasty and the other one was more watery and more like tomato purée, both were Brown onion tomato gravy. Subz-E- Malai Kofta was tasty, it had roasted Makhana’s and the kofta was also properly cooked and had a good taste. Handi Paneer is a No No, very watery gravy and dint like it, I’ve had Handi Paneer at a lot of places, dint match the taste, it lacked of spices and even had less of paneer and more of tomato purée in it. Lacha partha and butter naan were alright. The portions are little smaller than other restaurants.
The staff is attentive and friendly, but hygiene wise they’re a little dirty, that’s were I was not happy about. But overall it was a pretty good experience and would like to try their other dishes too. One thing I would want to add is that it’s definitely a Pocket Friendly restaurant. The first time our bill was about AED55.50 and the second time it was AED85.
Money wise: 4.5/5
And overall rating would be: 8/10 , I wouldn’t mind dinning here again.
