Bhukkad Cafe is the newest place everyone is literally hanging around! My friend Aditi was invited and she took me and Shabina/Shabosphere for tasting on Women’s Day! This place is beautifully interior-ed, love the ambience and seating. But every place has some hits and misses, so did bhukkad cafe! Let’s get talking about the food and our order!
It being International Women’s Day, they were serving a glass of Jalebi Milkshake to every Woman in the house, that was a very sweet gesture! Umm, sadly I dint like the shake at all, very watery and buttery. The first sip makes your whole mouth very buttery, that’s something I dislike the most, Jalebi Shake was a miss for me!
Bhukkad Cafe, doesn’t have anything like starters or mains. We started off with Chau Mean.
Chau Mean – 26dhs – Chau mean was the dish between hit and miss, the dish was very bland, no spice or salt was added. We added some chutney from our sandwich which made it taste it a little better. Chau Mean was served on Spade, yes the one which we use in gardening, I personally loved the presentation, very quirky and different!
Top – Chau Mean , Below – Chilli Chicken
Mithibai Grill Sandwich – 26dhs – I have never had the original mithibai grill sandwich but what I had here at Bhukkad Cafe was really tasty, flavorful and loaded with cheese and served with potato chips! A Must Try
Pizza Fries – 22dhs – Them fries were also loaded with cheese on the top, the fries had pizza sauce, few jalapeno’s and the rest I forgot 😛 sorry about that 😛 I feel the quantity as per the price pretty less and if the dish was baked or had melted cheese or a little cooked cheese would taste even better. I get they’re trying to recreate the dishes you get in India food stalls but this was my little thought to the dish.
Pull Out Bread – 32dhs – This was my personal favorite and I was really looking forward for this dish since I saw some of my friends posting them pictures on instagram (you can also follow me Instagram – @hemangiramani , self promo 😛 ) let’s get back to the dish 😛 haha 😛 So, it’s slab of small pav bread, they scoop the top and add finely chopped capsicums, onions, tomatoes, corn and mix them in butter an some masala and which is also topped with cheese, oregano and chili flakes. Only the sad part was that the cheese dint pull out as it had cold by the time we finished taking our pictures and all 😛 A Must Try if you’re a cheese lover!
Chaat Platter – 40dhs – Umm, very expensive for the quantity I’m getting and also I dint like either of the chaats, mostly all of them were very spicy or had no proper spice. The chaat platter was a miss for me!
Mac n Tikka – 36dhs – Bringing the Italian Pasta with an Indian Paneer/Chicken Tikka twist! This dish would taste epic if they used a little less garam masala to it, the masala over took the whole dish and you could barely taste anything else, and on the other hand the normal white sauce pasta was really good, that was a win for me, otherwise the tikka masala gravy was a very big let down.
Brownie Shake – 28dhs – Even this shake was a little watery to me, whenever the word shake comes to mind I always think of kind of thick shake, tasted a lot like chocolate milkshake, it was okay. All points to the presentation!
For the desserts we went for a cake and ice creams –
Sticky Toffee Cake – 22dhs – I personally ain’t a big sticky toffee cake fan because the dessert consist of dates, it’s not that I don’t like dates but I do not like it in my desserts warm. That’s too me TMI 😛 Let’s get back to the dish 😛 Overall the cake tasted very soft, moist and not too sweet, the cake was served with ice cream on the top. A Must Try!
Ice Cream – Gulkaand 24dhs and Paan Vanilla – 22dhs – Both the ice creams tasted extremely good, very flavorful and just the same way as they would taste in real. I’m not sure what they served us in was their regular size of serving or it was only for us, but if that was their regular portion of serving for the ice cream then, bro that’s extremely EXPENSIVE!
Service and Staff – Staff was a little confused with few of our orders, they kept coming and asking would you still need this or forget our order. They need to work with that and also the service was alright.
On the Pocket – Pretty pretty expensive on the pocket, if you’re a middle class earning person like I’m, then I don’t think this the ideal place for you! The amount they are charging isn’t right for the quantity they serve. This is my personal thought.
Overall – I loved the ambience, very different and indianised! Few of their dishes were really good be that veg or non veg and some were under the mark, which they need to work on them. They also need to work on their staffs with taking orders and phrasing a question correctly to the customers. You’ll find a lot of parking around the place and luckily its the ‘C’ zone so you ain’t paying a lot on your parking. They’re almost all the time full and there is a lot of people in waiting too, so you better call them up before you leave to check if there aren’t enough people when you reach there. This was my honest review about the place, pls do not think I was bashing the cafe in anyways! These were my personal thoughts on what all I was served.
I’m really enjoying writing my blogs, hope you’re enjoying them too! Until next time, Stay Awesome and Stay Foodie 😀
