Black Salt

Have you all been in the University City area in Sharjah?? If not then you’re missing out on very good food branches just like Black Salt! Very unique and different seating and interiors with open kitchen, so you can look at how your food to drinks are made! Sitting beside an open kitchen is really fun and also you know how your food is been cooked πŸ˜€

IMG_2094

I was invited to their Bloggers Tasting Session on a fine Friday afternoon, and we all had a feast πŸ˜€ They were really sweet to have veg options for some of us vegetarian bloggers πŸ˜€

Let’s dig into the food, shall we? πŸ˜€

We started off with some of their home-made breads which were very soft and fresh! Love it πŸ˜€

IMG_4806

Drinks – They have very fun names to their drinks and I tried one of their new edition πŸ˜€

It’s so annoying when somebody says the name of a song and then it’s stuck in your head all day. Like, β€œIf you like Pina Colada and getting caught in the rain” πŸŽΆπŸ™ˆπŸ˜‹ . . . . . This is the fancy looking Pina Colada from @blacksaltae 🍍 I really like things with dry ice, everything becomes so much fun! 😍😁 I had ordered their Kandy Krush drink, and it was so so good, it’s also new on their menu. So, when you go next to @blacksaltae don’t forget to order one☝️ Kandy Krush 😁 @zomatouae . . . . . #bloggersinvite #zomatouae #zomato #sharjahfood #sharjah #uae #uaefoodiesbloggers #dubaifoodiebybirth #dubaiblogger #sharjahuniversitycity #blacksaltae #newrestaurantinsharjah #pinacolada #pineapple #drink #dryice #noicefood #coldturkeydxb #coolfood #eatoutdxb #dxbreakfasts #vegetarianfoodblogger #uaefoodbloggers #likesforlikes #dubaifoodiebloggers #okaybyeee

Kandy Krush – They serve their drinks in an unique way, my drink came in a small half barrel kind of pot withΒ a small bowl which had lots of dry ice, and they pour liquid nitrogen for the smoke and instantly your drink becomes just so cool to watch & drink πŸ˜€ Also there were 2 small bottles, a glass full of shredded ice and lots of gummy worms on the top with some sour syrup drizzled,Β  Small bottles – one had the drink in it and the other had the soda, you pour both together in the drink. I love drinks which has a balance of both sweet and sourness together and this was perfect. A Must Try!

IMG_4822

Appetizers – Us the vegetarians had 3 appetizers to ourselves and I loved some and dint love some that much.

IMG_2134

Mac n Cheese Nachos – 44dhs –Fried Mac n Cheese, Whaatt?? Who is even coming up with such things?? Not the first time I have had though πŸ˜› By the time we had the mac n cheese nachos, they had gone all cold because we had to get the best shot – blogger problems, haha πŸ˜› Basically Mac n Cheese Nachos are made into fritters and coated with doritos and fried, yes you read it write, epic isn’t it? πŸ˜€ and they are all crunchy from the outside and soft from the inside with cheese ozzing out, which dint happen in our case πŸ˜› Though they tasted good, the best part was their salsa sauce, the whole dish got to another level of goodness! A Must Try!

IMG_4835

Corn on the Cob – 22dhs – A regular corn on the cob served with some spices, crushed cheetos and sauces drizzled on. Tasted great but I don’t think so I would spend so much on a corn on the cob.

IMG_4834

Classic Watermelon and Feta Cheese – 39dhs – This combination of watermelon and cheese is outstanding!! The sweetness of the watermelon and the saltiness of the feta cheese compliments the whole dish! A Must Try!

IMG_4825

Mains – We had 2 vegetarian dish for the mains.

There is no β€œwe” in food. So, get away from my food! πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜πŸ€€ . . . . . Yesterday’s bloggers meet with @fooduetto and @thescrumptiousscavengers was at @blacksaltae 😍, such pretty interiors with pretty good food! This their main dishes! I absolutely loved their Pepper Mushroom Pasta, one of the best Pasta’s I’ve had this year! 😍🀀 . . . . . Blog/Review should be up soon on @zomatouae and my blog page – www.foodiebybirth.wordpress.com . . . . . #Blacksaltae #bloggersinvite #zomato #zomatouae #uaefoodbloggers #dubaifoodiebybirth #sharjahfoodies #universitycity #uaefoodie #eatoutdxb #dxbreakfasts #mains #pasta #dubaifoodieblogger #getinmybelly #uaefoodblogger #sharjah #flatlayforever #flaylayoftheday #coldturkeydxb #noicefood #okaybyeee

A post shared by Hemangi (@hemangiramani) on

Pepper Mushroom Pasta – 45dhs – The pasta were Alfredo sauce pasta’s and I kid you not when I tell these were the best pasta I have had this year!! The sauce was so creamy and cheese and the black pepper taste was just so good! We literally downed this dish in no time, it was that delicious πŸ˜€ A Must Try!

IMG_4843

Flatbread – 44dhs – I’m sorry, I do not remember the name of this dish, also this dish was also on their recommended list. Sauteed spinach base topped with lots of cheese and drizzled with truffle oil and finally topped with fresh baby spinach! Yum, tasted very delicious! A Must Try!

IMG_4845

Desserts – They were made freshly for everyone, so it took them too long to get the desserts out.

Red Velvet Tower – 38dhs – The tower is served very fancily in a huge bowl with dry ice smoke. Cake was very soft and the icing wasn’t too sweet so it was a balance of sweetness overall. A Must Try!

IMG_4854

Black Salt Date Cake – Damn!! Their presentation is so so beautiful, I absolutely loved it πŸ˜€ So, they made a sphere out of caramelized sugar and in between kept is the date cake and ice cream. This tasted aahhmaazzingg!! The caramelized sugar with the cake and ice cream tasted out of this world, it was surely my favorite dessert! A Must Try!

IMG_4857

Service and Staff – The service was a little slow, probably because there were a lot of us that day! The staff on the other hand were friendly and helpful with the orders πŸ˜€

On the Pocket – I would say they’re a on the expensive side, so think and order!

Overall – A very fancy shancy place, also very instagramable. The prices are on a little expensive though, so if you’re on a budget then this is not the right place for you! The food overall is good, very unique and different, loved the drinks options and the pasta! They’re Kids friendly, instagramable, got loadsss of parking, and they’ve free wifi! πŸ˜€

Let’s get to the delicious food! Shall we ? πŸ˜€

Complimentary starter – Salty Crackers –Healthy crackers to munch on before we get our hands on the mains! They were a little too salty but other than that, tasted great to me!

IMG_0843Healthy Crackers

Hot Beverages – Hot Chocolate – I don’t drink coffee or tea, um don’t judge me πŸ˜› So, I opted for their Hot Chocolate, not too sweet and not too runny or thick, just the perfect way I like my hot chocolate! A Must Try!

IMG_4367Hot Chocolate and Black Tea

Breakfast – Ricotta Cheese and Mushroom on Sour Bread –Even though the sour bread being a little hard, the ricotta cheese and mushroom did wonders to the dish! The ricotta cheese being a little sweet and the mushrooms sauteed in right amount of salt and spices, made perfectly! A Must Try for the Vegetarians

IMG_4369Ricotta Cheese and Mushroom on Sour Bread

Chia Pudding – I know chia seeds are very good and healthy for you but I dint like the pudding a lot, the top part where it had fruits and grated coconut tasted really good but after the fruits were all eaten just the chia seeds tasted really bland, probably some more fruits would taste better.

IMG_4381Chia Pudding

Sides – Parmesan Truffle Fries –Just how I read Mojito and ordered one, the same happened with the fries, haha πŸ˜› I love fries and so did I love these, the fries weren’t soggy at all, crispy and cheesy from the outside and soft from the outside!

IMG_4388Parmesan Truffle Fries

Cold Beverage – Strawberry Mojito – I’m sure by now you guys know how much I love me a good mojito! As I was flipping the menu I came across their Strawberry Mojito and couldn’t stop myself from ordering it. I surely did the right thing to ordering the Mojito because, DAMN!! It was so so good and refreshing! The right amount the fruit flavor, sweetness and soda! A Must Try!

IMG_4382Strawberry Mojito

No visit to a restaurant is complete without desserts, and these were some fancy and healthy tasting desserts which I thought wouldn’t like but ended loving them! πŸ˜€

Desserts – Ube Cupcake – Ube is basically a purple yam, and this dessert is made out of the same, at first I thought I would dislike it because of the yam but surprisingly the cupcake was so soft and moist from the inside and tasted amazing, you can’t even tell it’s made out of yam. The cupcake was topped with ube frosting! A Must Try

IMG_4390Ube Cupcake

Ube Leche Flan –Them desserts are so pretty to eat! Just look at the pictures πŸ˜€ This was a ube cake topped with custard and decorated with edible caramel decoration and garnished with some beautiful edible flowers, just can’t get enough on how pretty the desserts looked! A Must Try

IMG_4398Ube Leche Flan

Mango Sorbet with Vanilla Ice-cream –Last but not the least, this beautiful looking dessert, mango sorbet and vanilla ice cream surrounded with edible mud with caramelized pecans topped with some fancy decoration. A Must Try

Ambience –I personally love cafe and restaurants which are very peaceful and quiet, it’s just so much better that way and so was Fen, very relaxing or even a great spot to hang out with your friends. Beautiful interiors and historical exteriors with perfect outdoor seating for this lovely winter season!

IMG_4405Outdoor seating

Service –Pretty quick service with very friendly staff! Marc was great with his service to us! πŸ˜€

On the Pocket – They’re on a little expensive side of the page, if you’ve a budget to spend then I wouldn’t recommend this place for you. But, if you don’t have a budget and are looking for a place to chill, then surely check them out!

Overall –I would surely visit them back for the food they served and fantastic service they gave us. It could be a little tricky to find them if you don’t have the gps on, but don’t worry about the parking as they have parking inside the Art Foundation, 1hour – 2.5dhs. When you visit them don’t forget to check out the Sharjah Art Museum, we missed it, but you don’t! πŸ˜€ Also Fen is kid friendly, has outdoor seating, and has wifi too. πŸ˜€

Crisol Restaurant and Lounge

Crisol is a fusion of American, Mexican and Spanish cuisine. I was very curious about the meaning behind the name and I was said Crisol means Melting Pot in Spanish! They’re located in Sharjah the University City Area. If you don’t know about this area then you’re surely missing on a lot of good food around this area, including Crisol! πŸ˜€

IMG_0946

Let’s get on the food, there was a lot of food and they had a separate fixed menu for the tasting, but sadly they dint have a lot of veg options!

Shemomechama – Eating beyond the point of feeling full because you’re enjoying your food so much! 😍🀀 . . . . @crisol.ae is my new favourite place! Everything was just on point, the interiors to the food! So so good, you guys should surely check them out! I have been trying out more place in Sharjah than in Dubai πŸ˜‹ but I’m totally loving it! 😁 Thank you @thescrumptiousscavengers for taking me along as usual πŸ˜πŸ™ŠπŸ˜ . . . . Beverage – Strawberry Mojito –

I’m sure by now you guys are aware about how much I love myself a good Mojito and I’m on a mission to find the best Mojito in town! So, I went for their Strawberry Mojito, just letting you know, they’ve HUGE PORTIONS for everything. So, we get our tall glasses of Mojito, very refreshing but the drink had a little weird after taste probably because of the excessive use of the ginger ale which overpowered the whole drink.

IMG_0916Strawberry Mojito

Salad – Watermelon Salad –

I haven’t had a watermelon in a salad and this was quite different from all salads I have had before. The salad had a surprise and that was the fried goat cheese!! OMG!! What even?? The goat cheese and watermelon with rocket leaves went so well with drizzled balsamic and few sesame seeds! DELICIOUS!! Must Try!

IMG_4453Watermelon Salad with fried goat cheese

Appetizers – Matchcstick Fries –

They were really sweet to make one of their appetizers veg. Matchstick fries were very thin fries served in a big jar with lots of cheese and their secret sauce around the whole jar topped with crushed chettos. It was my absolute favorite dish as everything went so well with each other, none of the toppings overpowered the dish! An Absolute MUST TRY!

Mains – Mushroom Farfalle (Mushroom Pasta) –

As there were no veg options in their set menu, they let us order anything on their menu, the manager help us choose the Mushroom Farfalle. They were mushroom pasta in excellent made creamy alfredo sauce, loved it!

IMG_4459Mushroom Farefalle

No food journey is complete without dessert and they served us with one of their best desserts and they surely were to die for!

Desserts – 1 – CRISOL HIT –

CRISOL HIT is basically a three layered dessert which has ice cream on the very bottom, in the middle is their crunchy brownie and on the top is their chocolate which has hidden ice cream inside. They pour hot chocolate sauce on the top layer and hit the top chocolate and the melted ice cream oozes out! A messy but delicious dessert. A Must Try.

IMG_4477(Left – Right – Crisol Hit , Lotus Pancake and Vanilla Milk Cake)

2 – Lotus Pancake –

As I told you above their portions are huge and so were their desserts, love that! The lotus pancake looked crazy good, but after the 1st pancake was eaten the below ones were a little dry, so I would suggest extra sauce on the side maybe? Otherwise it was a hit!

IMG_4480Lotus Pancake

3- Vanilla Milk Cake –

WHAT HEAVEN!! I have found a new love of Milk Cakes and it’s getting uncontrollable πŸ˜› These cakes are not too sweet and so so fluffy because of the milk around the cake! I LOVE THEM and also a Must Try!

Ambience –

Very quiet and peaceful, I would sit here the whole day and wouldn’t get bored of anything! The interior is so beautiful and funky, my favorite spot was their washroom area! The whole place is so so Instagram-able!

IMG_4474Interiors

Service –

Quick service, all the food was served in minutes right after ordering! Also very friendly and helpful staff.

On the Pocket –

I would say pretty reasonable for the huge portions they serve. πŸ˜€

Overall –

It was a great experience, would surely go back for their Matchstick fries and their crazy good desserts! Easy to a find parking, kid friendly and they got wifi too. So, it’s a win from all the sides! πŸ˜€

Gioia Italian Restaurant – Fairmont Ajman

I was lucky to be a part of Hyperlink Media’s first bloggers event which happened last week at the Fairmont Ajman, a big thank you to their lovely co founder Nihara for the invite at the newly relaunched Gioia Italian Restaurant.

IMG_7021

I had a great time meeting some awesome sauce bloggers, Let’s getting talking about the awesome sauce food too πŸ˜‰

IMG_6961

We started with some appetizers –  for the vegetarians they had a vegetarian platter that had,

1)  Mozzarella Di Buffala Alla Caprese – This dish had tomatoes, basil and the mozzarella cheese and this dish was my favorite, you can guess why eh? πŸ˜›

2) Insalat Averdure Miste Con Formaggi Di Capelli – Okay, let me break it down for you about the dish, it was a mixed green salad which was mixed with some goat cheese, cherry tomatoes and some aged balsamic. I dint like the goat cheese *surprise*, I thought I liked all the cheeses but I was wrong when I tasted the goat cheese πŸ˜› other than that it was good πŸ˜€

3). Crema Di Broccoli Al Gorgonzola E Crostini – Broccoli soup with some gorgonzola soup, really liked the soup because it was creamy and cheesyy πŸ˜€ it was a win πŸ˜€ I have started to like broccoli soup, a lot lately πŸ˜› Must Try πŸ˜€

IMG_3169

So we were told we could choose any drinks from the menu we want,

IMG_3192

I went for the classic Strawberry Mojito, Oh so refreshing and so good in taste too! An absolute recommendation πŸ˜€ A Must Try!

IMG_3190

Before we got our main “Mains” we got to try their wood fire baked PIZZAAAAA!! haha yess!! We were served with 3 pizza’s, which was the Quattro Formaggi ( 4 cheese obvio!) , Zingara (The veg one) and the last was Capricciosa (Pepperoni Pizza) and 3 out of 2 of them were the one I could eat, I was over the moon to have two options! Haha πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

IMG_3174

Okay, I love cheese a lot, but without a doubt my favourite was the Zingara, so cheesy and right amount of cheese and properly cooked veggies πŸ˜€ Zingara is a Must Try! πŸ˜€

IMG_3183

We were served with 2 veg mains and both were pasta’s, all the pasta’s at Gioia Restaurant are homemade and the pasta chosen that day were the Casarecce pasta. I have never tried the Casarecce pasta and they were actually so good.

The two pasta dishes we had were the Arabiatta pasta and Alfredo Pasta. (I’m sorry for not knowing the right name of the dish)

IMG_7075

My favorite was the Arabiatta pasta as they were really flavorful, had the right amount of sauce, spices and. Alot if cheese on the top! 😁

IMG_3201

Can we talk about the crazy good desserts we ended our day with?? There were freaking 3 good desserts ❀ πŸ˜€

IMG_3239Espresso Frozen Parafait with Coffee glee and chocolate soup

The 3 desserts were Espresso Frozen Parafait with Coffee glee and chocolate soup, Hazelnut Mousseline Napoline with Mascopone cream and peach campote and last but not the least Manjari Molten Chocolate and Caramelized Popcorn Gelato, Compressed Strawberries.

IMG_3206Hazelnut Mousseline Napoline with Mascopone cream and peach campote

My favorite out all 3 was the Molten Chocolate cake because of the ooey gooey chocolate and the caramel ozzing out the cake! The gelato served was so good too! πŸ˜€

IMG_3246

I had an awesome friday with all the great bloggers, Gioia has great service and very friendly staff, If you’re dinning in at the Gioia Restaurant do ask for Omar as your server! He was great πŸ˜€

We lastly had a tour of the Hotel and got to see their Penthouse at the 14th floor and it was damn huge, a 2 story penthouse!! It was like a dream house anybody could ask for πŸ˜€  I’ve attached a picture of the view from the penthouse for you to get a lil jealous of me, Haha πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

IMG_3262

Thank You so much Hyperlink Media for such a lovely invite and really looking forward to join you for more bloggers meet πŸ˜€

Zahrat Al Madina Restaurant, Best Falafel Joint-Ajman

We’ve been going to Zahart Al Madina Restaurant since a decade or more and this place has never failed wowing me with their Falafel Sandwich!! Anybody who loves Falafel sandwich/wrap should surely visit them because you’re for sure missing something yummy, they make the best falafel sandwiches/wraps. They serve Indian, Pakistani and Arabic Cuisine. I personally have tasted nothing other than their very well known Falafel Sandwich, Falafel, Samosa and Onion Bhajiya. The location is a bit tricky so please check the directions to this place on Zomato, I’m sure that will help you and you’ll love the food just like I do!

Even after they’re located in Ajman we don’t mind driving through the Sharjah traffic because literally their Falafel Sandwiches are so good, like I told in the beginning I’ve been coming here for more than a decade, the thing that is changed is the restaurants interior and location that’s it. It’s so crazy that the sandwich tastes just so good and exactly same every time I go. They make them just in front of you so you can even see how they make your food through the glass window.

Falafel Sandwich

TheΒ Falafel SandwichΒ is made in a kaboos/pita bread and has tahini sauce, shatta paste (red tomato and chilli paste), cucumber, pickled carrots, tomatoes, cabbage and their 2 huge Falafels. One sandwich is for onlyΒ 2.50dhs, yess that’s it!! They always make them fresh for every person who orders and we always have a big order because we usually take few Β for the next day also, haha πŸ˜› I can’t help it. Just store them in the fridge and reheat again and voila you’re ready to eat them! πŸ˜€ I’ve eaten Falafels at a lot of places, nobody has beaten their taste, them falafel have a proper authentic taste and are just so good!! 1 falafel is for 0.50fils.

The taste hasn’t changed until today, the same flavours and the same taste! They do have seating inside so you can sit inside or take a takeaway and have it in the car or by the beach as the beach is near by the place, we usually prefer takeaways. The staff is very friendly and shows great hospitality. They’re really pocket friendly when it comes to food.

Parking isn’t an issue at all because there is a huge parking lot behind so you can park there. Don’t forget to try this place if you’re around this area and do let me know if you’ve been going here just like me and even if you’ve your own favourite falafel sandwich place in Dubai or U.A.E. Please do check their Zomato page for the location.

Stay Healthy and Foodie, that’s it for today, don’t forget to follow my food journey! Happy Tuesday! πŸ˜€

Rajasthan Al Malaki -Vegetarian Thali Restaurant in Sharjah

I was going through my fellow bloggers blog and read about Rajasthan Al Malaki and since then I kept bugging my parents to take me here and they did. HAHA πŸ˜›

IMG_7197

We took theΒ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Sharjah and we were pretty lucky to get no traffic towards Sharjah, I’ll input the location in the end of the blog, so check it out!

They’re usually crowded on weekends so if you can then don’t forget to book a table, even after booking a table we had to wait for almost 45mins. I would suggest you to take a reservation on a weekend.

The restaurant isn’t too big and they’ve tried to fit pretty lot of tables so you feel really restricted with your hands, the place has a proper Rajasthan touch to everything, whether that’s the furniture, paintings, food, etc. Rajasthan Al Malaki serves Rajasthani and Gujarati cuisines in a Thali. Thali is a full course meal where different types of food varieties are served in a round plate.

IMG_7203

They serve 2 types of Thali’s 1) Week Day, Regular Thali which is for 25dhs and 2) Weekend, Royal Thali which is for 30dhs.Kids under 8 half price(for thali) They even have Ala Carte, chaats and sweet counter too. Let’s get reviewing about the food. πŸ˜€

IMG_7198

I’m surely writing this really late, but hey I’m still writing yeah? Haha sorry πŸ˜›

We were served 4 farsan, 2 sweets, 4 vegetables, 3dals, 3 types of rotis, 2 types of rice, 2 types of salad.

They started with the Farsan (snacks/starer) Dal Batti Churma, Dahi Vada, Shami Kabab, Khaman Dhokla. It was the best Dal batti churma I’ve ever had, the churma was so soft yet not dry and the dal had all proper spices to it, loved it! Dahi vada, literally my second favourite farsan, I’m very picky with my Dahi vada and they tasted so good, as you put in your mouth they dissolve right than second, not too sweet and really tasty and fresh. I wasn’t too found of the shami kabab because they tasted kind of under cook. They dint have Gobi Patra in the menu as they were finished so we were served with Khaman Dhokla, umm they were fine, kind of dry otherwise was fine. They’re served with Spicy and Sweet Chutney.

Next comes the Vegetables/Sabzi’s Paneer Jodhpuri, Methi Mutter Malai, Gatta Curry and Aloo Lasaniya, personally all are my favourite sabzi’s but I was really looking forward for Gatta Curry I love Gatta Curry soo much and they nailed it!! The gatta wasn’t too dry and hard so that was a good thing and the gravy was tasty too, not too sweet and not spicy either. Paneer Jodhpuri, Methi Mutter Malai and Aloo Lasaniya were great too, liked all of them, tasted great!

Next comes the Dals, Rajasthani Dal, Mithi Dal (sweet dal) and Jodhpuri Kadhi, when it comes to dal I barely have any, don’t ask me why πŸ˜› I’m so much busy eating other things that I always forget the dal πŸ˜› All of them tasted good, I personally liked the Rajasthani Dal and Jodhpuri Kadhi because it tasted more like what my Mom makes, so yeah that was a win for me. I don’t like sweet dal a lot so Mithi Dal dint work for me.

Next comes the Rotis, they’ve Phulka Roti, Masala Puri and Makai ke Roti, what I like about Thali places are that they do have a lot of varieties but they don’t serve more than anything the person need so it’s not a waste. They make small puri’s, and roti’s and that too fresh and hot. Who doesn’t like garma garam roti? Ah love ittt!!! Soft rotis and puris are a win for me!

The Rice, they’ve two choices in rice, Kashmiri Pulav and Khichadi, Ummm na na dint like either of them! Khichadi was too runny and Kashmiri Pulav were too spicy and had a lot of Khada Masala which is one thing I hate the most, so dint like either of them. Or may be I was too full by this time that I dint like either of them, you never know πŸ˜›

And now comes my most favourite part and that is the Sweets πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ They had 3 sweets, Churma, Moong dal halwa and Β Fruit custard. Loved all of them, literally I went mad for the Moong Dal Halwa, so soft not too sweet and lots of ghee πŸ˜› πŸ˜€ I’m not a fruit custard person but this one was pretty good won my heart with the 1st spoon. Churma was good too, the best thing was that neither of them were too sweet, loved that!

Oh how can I forget the Chaas (butter milk) loved it, but don’t drink it too much otherwise you’ll get full too fast before you eat anything. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

IMG_7211

Above: Royal Thali

The waiters are so well taught their signs and they’re great servers!! The ambience is good but can get very noisy because the place isn’t too big I would say they’re mid sized. Parking isn’t an issue you can get it in front of the restaurant.
