Dillicious – Al Karama

Dillicious is the new restaurant in town, just 1-2months old and they’re located in Karama. They’ve made the whole restaurant into a modern indian dhaba and I love it! They’ve literally have a trucks front body inside the restaurant, say whaattt!! :O

IMG_3443

I had visited them along my foodie blogger friend Aditi πŸ˜€ Also thank you to Stylecode Media for the invite πŸ˜€ Let’s get to the food, shall we? πŸ˜€

IMG_5132

Beverages – Strawberry Mojito – 12dhs – I was very surprised with how good the mojito actually tasted, I was debating before the mojito came. Not too sweet nor too sour, just perfect the way it should be. Must Try!

IMG_5133

Starter – Veg Kebab Platter – 35dhs – The platter consisted of Stuffed mushrooms – were well done and had some cheese stuffing in it. Stuffed potatoes – I liked the outer layer which was crispy and flavourful, dint really like the stuffing. Achari Soya Chaap – One of the best chaaps I have had, I’m a very big fan of soya chaps and these tasted excellent, the tanginess of the achar made the dish taste even more better. Paneer Tikka – Very soft and properly tandoor’d, nobody can go wrong with paneer tikka. Seekh Kebab – very soft from that inside and crispy from the outside. loved it!

IMG_5142

Samosa Chaat – 10dhs – ONE OF THE BEST SAMOSA CHAAT IN TOWN!! Literally so good, very simple made but so so good. The dish dint have the masalai chole, just boiled chole’s, green chutney, red chutney, curd, onions, tomatoes and topped with salted boondi. such simple ingredients but a very hearty dish! Worth the amount. A Must Try

Mains – Ordered 1 sabzi, 1 dal, roti basket and biryani (veg options)

Paneer Tikka Tawa Masala – 30dhs – The paneer is tandoor’d in their bhatti and the gravy is made right in front of you in their open kitchen on the tawa, proper dhaba style! The gravy is a brown gravy which isn’t too runny and is properly coated onto the paneer, not too spicy and not bland at all!

IMG_5143

Dal Dhaba – 22dhs – We wanted to have their Dal Makhani but the manager suggested us to try their Dal Dhaba and surprisingly this dish was a bomb.com! It is made almost like dal makhani but had a mix of 5 dals, very very good tasting dish. You should surely order Dal Dhaba. A Must Try!

IMG_5146

Roti Basket – 24dhs – The basket consisted of 4-5 different kinds of roti’s and they were very soft and not rubbery. Also very reasonable for the amount of roti’s you get, I always order the roti basket at the restaurants because you get more quantity and you pay less. A Must Try!

IMG_5145

Paneer Tikka Biryaani – 24dhs – I freaking loved the biryaani, so so flavourful and delicious! Every scoop you eat you can taste the masala’s and the tons of saffron. The best part is they make the same base rice for both veg and non veg biryani, so you’re not missing on anything! A Must Try!

IMG_5148

Dessert – We ordered 2 desserts

Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream – 14dhs – I wasn’t a big fan the gulab jamun as I hate elaichi in my jamun and these had a lot of strong flavour of elaichi, so it was a miss for me.

IMG_3439

Ras Malai – 12dhs – Nothing wow, very mediocre.

IMG_5161

Staff and Service – Friendly staff and quick service!

One the Pocket – Pretty Pocket friendly, I look at myself visiting them soon in the future πŸ˜€

Overall – I really liked everything overall, the food is phenomenal, as we couldn’t finish all the food in one seating we did a take away took it home for my parents, and I kid you not they LOVED the food! The ambience and seating is really chilled. I loved the art wall and the truck, just the highlight of the restaurant πŸ˜€ The staff and the service is upto the mark. Do not panic about the parking as you’re going to find a lot of parking in this area and also it’s a C zone πŸ˜€

The Bhukkad Cafe

Bhukkad Cafe is the newest place everyone is literally hanging around! My friend Aditi was invited and she took me and Shabina/Shabosphere for tasting on Women’s Day! This place is beautifully interior-ed, love the ambience and seating. But every place has some hits and misses, so did bhukkad cafe! Let’s get talking about the food and our order!

It being International Women’s Day, they were serving a glass of Jalebi Milkshake to every Woman in the house, that was a very sweet gesture! Umm, sadly I dint like the shake at all, very watery and buttery. The first sip makes your whole mouth very buttery, that’s something I dislike the most, Jalebi Shake was a miss for me!

IMG_5092

Bhukkad Cafe, doesn’t have anything like starters or mains. We started off with Chau Mean.

Chau Mean – 26dhs – Chau mean was the dish between hit and miss, the dish was very bland, no spice or salt was added. We added some chutney from our sandwich which made it taste it a little better. Chau Mean was served on Spade, yes the one which we use in gardening, I personally loved the presentation, very quirky and different!

IMG_5098Top – Chau Mean , Below – Chilli Chicken

Mithibai Grill Sandwich – 26dhs – I have never had the original mithibai grill sandwich but what I had here at Bhukkad Cafe was really tasty, flavorful and loaded with cheese and served with potato chips! A Must Try

IMG_5100

Pizza Fries – 22dhs – Them fries were also loaded with cheese on the top, the fries had pizza sauce, few jalapeno’s and the rest I forgot πŸ˜› sorry about that πŸ˜›Β  I feel the quantity as per the price pretty less and if the dish was baked or had melted cheese or a little cooked cheese would taste even better. I get they’re trying to recreate the dishes you get in India food stalls but this was my little thought to the dish.

IMG_5101

Pull Out Bread – 32dhs – This was my personal favorite and I was really looking forward for this dish since I saw some of my friends posting them pictures on instagram (you can also follow me Instagram – @hemangiramani , self promo πŸ˜› ) let’s get back to the dish πŸ˜› haha πŸ˜› So, it’s slab of small pav bread, they scoop the top and add finely chopped capsicums, onions, tomatoes, corn and mix them in butter an some masala and which is also topped with cheese, oregano and chili flakes. Only the sad part was that the cheese dint pull out as it had cold by the time we finished taking our pictures and all πŸ˜› A Must Try if you’re a cheese lover!

GQII7970

Chaat Platter – 40dhs – Umm, very expensive for the quantity I’m getting and also I dint like either of the chaats, mostly all of them were very spicy or had no proper spice. The chaat platter was a miss for me!

Mac n Tikka – 36dhs – Bringing the Italian Pasta with an Indian Paneer/Chicken Tikka twist! This dish would taste epic if they used a little less garam masala to it, the masala over took the whole dish and you could barely taste anything else, and on the other hand the normal white sauce pasta was really good, that was a win for me, otherwise the tikka masala gravy was a very big let down.

IMG_3021

Brownie Shake – 28dhs – Even this shake was a little watery to me, whenever the word shake comes to mind I always think of kind of thick shake, tasted a lot like chocolate milkshake, it was okay. All points to the presentation!

LKUK9790

For the desserts we went for a cake and ice creams –

Sticky Toffee Cake – 22dhs – I personally ain’t a big sticky toffee cake fan because the dessert consist of dates, it’s not that I don’t like dates but I do not like it in my desserts warm. That’s too me TMI πŸ˜› Let’s get back to the dish πŸ˜› Overall the cake tasted very soft, moist and not too sweet, the cake was served with ice cream on the top. A Must Try!

Ice Cream – Gulkaand 24dhs and Paan Vanilla – 22dhs – Both the ice creams tasted extremely good, very flavorful and just the same way as they would taste in real. I’m not sure what they served us in was their regular size of serving or it was only for us, but if that was their regular portion of serving for the ice cream then, bro that’s extremely EXPENSIVE!

IMG_5129

Service and Staff – Staff was a little confused with few of our orders, they kept coming and asking would you still need this or forget our order. They need to work with that and also the service was alright.

On the Pocket – Pretty pretty expensive on the pocket, if you’re a middle class earning person like I’m, then I don’t think this the ideal place for you! The amount they are charging isn’t right for the quantity they serve. This is my personal thought.

Overall – I loved the ambience, very different and indianised! Few of their dishes were really good be that veg or non veg and some were under the mark, which they need to work on them. They also need to work on their staffs with taking orders and phrasing a question correctly to the customers. You’ll find a lot of parking around the place and luckily its the ‘C’ zone so you ain’t paying a lot on your parking. They’re almost all the time full and there is a lot of people in waiting too, so you better call them up before you leave to check if there aren’t enough people when you reach there. This was my honest review about the place, pls do not think I was bashing the cafe in anyways! These were my personal thoughts on what all I was served.

Hope my blog was helpful for you and for further information you can check them out on The Bhukkad Cafe Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Sukh Sagar Restaurant

Sukh Sagar Restaurant is one of the oldest Indian Vegetarian Restaurants in Dubai and it’s going to sound a little weird but I have only visited them once in these many years! Don’t ask why though πŸ˜› Also a big thank you to Hyperlinks Media for the Invitation πŸ˜€

IMG_2432

I had gone on the 14th Feb – Valentines Day, with my very lovely Mommy πŸ˜€ We surely had a great feast πŸ˜€

Let’s talk about what all we ordered, it was a lottt of good food πŸ˜› πŸ˜€

We started off with something to drink.

Carrot Juice – 13dhs – Mom went for the fresh made carrot juice and it was pretty good, also you could get little bit of carrot with every sip, mom really liked it.

Salted Lassi – 12dhs – I went for the authentic salted lassi, for us gujarati lassi is like our beer, we have it with mostly everything and absolutely love that! Perfectly made lassi, not too salty and not too thick either, just the way I love my Lassi.

IMG_4988

We ordered 3 Appetizers –

Mix Platter – 35dhs –Β If you and your family is as crazy as we are about tandoor and all then you’ll surely like this dish, you can share the dish at least between 3 people max! The platter consisted a different variety of tandoor’d veggies like cauliflower and mushrooms, paneer and kebab’s.

LikedPaneer – The paneer was so soft that it melted right away in the mouth and it was properly tandoor’d with yummy marination masala! Mushrooms – You can never go wrong with mushrooms in a tandoor platter πŸ˜€ , Seekh Kabab – Very flavorful with all the spices and cooked properly! Pineapple – Yess, there was a pineapple that too fried in a pancake batter. I loved it!! The sourness of the pineapple and the batter was slightly sweet so the whole combination was different and tasty!

Dint likeCauliflower – The cauliflower tasted a little under-cooked, the masala tasted perfectly seasoned and not too spicy.Β  Hara Bhara Kebab – The hara bhara kebab dint taste like the authentic kebabs, very bland in taste too.

IMG_4990

Sukh Sagar Specail Masala Pav 19dhs –Β MY FAVORITE DISH!!! Literally this dish was soo gooddd!! The Masala wasn’t deadly spicy, I could do that much spice. The masala dint taste like the typical Pav Bhaji Masala, it wasn’t totally smashed and creamy like the pav bhaji masala, bigger chunks of the tomato, onions and capsicums. The pav was grilled in butter up to it was crunchy from the top and soft from the inside. The dish was topped with loads of cheese which took the dish to another level of awesomeness! An absolute Must Try!

Vegetable Manchurain – 22dhs – They looked great when served, but dint taste any good. The manchurian dint have any vegetable inside, probably just a tiny bit of carrot was seen with a little green onion. Also the gravy was a little too salty. So for manchurain it was a no – no!

IMG_5000

Our Mains – We went for 2 sabzi’s , roti’s and 1 biryani

A post shared by Hemangi Ramani (@hemangiramani) on

Punjabi Dum Aloo 27dhs – I forever wanted to try Dum Aloo, it was a red/orangish gravy which tasted a little tangy and had enough amount of spice I could take. The only sad part was the potato was a little under cooked, so it was getting difficult to cut into the aloo. The filling of dum aloo was grated paneer and spices. I liked the gravy but not the dum aloo. If the aloo was cooked properly would taste even better.

IMG_5009

Sukh Sagar Special Vegetable – 35dhs – The dish consisted 2 sabzi’s, Aloo Bukhara Kofta – Really well done kofta’s you can not make out its made out of plum and this one of their best selling dishes! A Must Try! Malai Paneer (I think so) – Dint know what was the second sabzi as I dint ask the name, the sabzi was very very sweet, dint like the over powering sweetness at all, the only good part about the dish was their freshly made paneer. Liked one sabzi and disliked the other.

IMG_5008

Rotis Lachha Partha – 7dhs and Kulcha – 6dhs – Both lachha partha and kulcha were really well made, not too chewy at all. A Must Try!

IMG_5010.JPG

Vegetable Handi Biryani25dhs – Biryani tasted more like masala pulao, too much masala and was bland on salt. I was expecting the biryani to be more like dum, but then yes dum biryani is totally different from handi biryani. The biryani was accompanied with raita and papad.

IMG_5014

Desserts – You can never leave a restaurant without sweets, if someone tells they don’t have space for any dessert, leave them asap. HAHA, JK πŸ˜›

Angoor Rabri 10dhs – One of the best angoor rabri had till date!! The rabri wasn’t too sweet and it was so thick and creamy, absolutely loved the dish. A Must Try!

Ras Malai 12dhs – 2 piece –Β The ras malai was also really good, very soft and not too chewy. The milk was so good!

IMG_5028

Service and Staff – The service and staff both are extremely good!! Mr. William the Manager of the branch was really sweet to look after each customer, he asked feedbacks from all his customers.

On the Pocket – I would say pretty pocket friendly, I see myself coming for a lot of their delicious food.

Overall – The seating and the ambience of Sukh Sagar is nice. They need to improve few things about their dishes like presentation of the dishes, they also need to look into using proper amount of salt, because 1-2 dishes had extra or no salt. otherwise I liked everything. There is tons of parking right in front of the restaurant, they have wifi and also it’s kids friendly.

Let’s go back to Punjab with Chawlas^2 :D

Let me take you on a food journey to Punjab with some good Punjabi Khana πŸ˜€

Thank you to my blogger friends The Scrumptious Scavengers for taking me along for a tasting at Chawlas2, I’m so glad to discover an authentic punjabi restaurant. We were welcomed by Mr.Arvinder, the franchisee/owner of Chawlas2. He took us back to the history where all the magic started and is still going on very strongly!!

IMG_9482

Let me quickly jump to the food, because I can’t wait to tell you guys what all I ate πŸ˜€

Beverages

I started off with two beverages, 1 was the Sweet Lime Soda, which took me back to India!! Ah so good and refreshing, the soda had some soda masala too, bonus points for that. πŸ˜€

IMG_3947Lime Soda (12dhs) and Salted Lassi (15dhs)

My 2nd beverage was the Salted Lassi, I’m a crazy lassi person, because it’s just a little thinner version of yogurt and I love it so much, and literally this lassi was hands down my favourite, so fresh and so thick! Loved it! A must try to both the beverages!

IMG_3951Salted Lassi (15dhs)

Starters

Mr. Arvinder was very kind to serve me the whole Vegetarian Platter which consisted with different assortments like

Paneer Tikka – Very flavorful, paneer was fresh not rubbery at all, soft and tasty.

Veg Seekh Kebab – Were a little dry but tasted good.

Tandoori Gobi – Totally Masalaidar and properly tandoor’d

Tandoori Mushroom – Very standard and tasted good.

Stuffed Tandoori Aloo – I would write a whole para for the Aloo’s, they were my favorite on the platter, they were so good! The aloo were scooped and filled with crushed sesame seeds, spices, and bits of paneer and tandoor’d so well, oh so good! A Must Try!

IMG_3957Veg Tandoori Platter (39dhs)

I dint go for a lot in mains, because by the time I got done with the platter I was full and also I was the only vegetarian πŸ˜› So dint order a big portions, went for small portions. Pls remember when you order the quantity will differ for the mains.
IMG_9501
Up – Non Veg Platter(69dhs) , Middle – Tandoori Mutton Burra (41dhs), Down – Veg Platter (39dhs) *The quantity may vary

Insider to the Restaurant –

Chawlas2 is very well known for their signature dish “The Cream Chicken” where everything started, back in the days in Ludhiana they only use to do take away of their signature dish with a loaf of bread. Everybody instantly fell in love with their cream chicken and today they’ve almost 100 branches across the globe, like North India, UK, USA, Australia and 2 years old in Dubai, UAE πŸ˜€

The restaurants name, Chawlas^2 which is actually Chawla’s Sqaure, where the veg and the non veg authentic punjabi food meets, how cool and unique is thatt?? πŸ˜€

I would like to add a fun fact about their spices used in Cream Chicken or Cream Paneer for the vegetarians, literally nobody knows what are the secret spices, they’re freshly made in India and sent them over here!! Wow, that’s a big secret right here πŸ˜€

IMG_3943
Interiors

Okay, let’s get back to my mains, shall we ? πŸ˜€

Mains –

I tried the signature dish – cream chicken gravy (don’t worry I dint eat chicken, they removed some gravy for me before adding the chicken, haha πŸ˜› ) It is an off white colour gravy, which is thick and spicy. The gravy is slightly spicy but the spice doesn’t give you burning sensation in your throat, that’s win for me! A Must Try

IMG_3972
Signature Dish – Cream Chicken(37dhs) Gravy with Laccha Paratha(6dhs)

I also had Paneer Tikka Masala with laccha paratha and butter naan. The paneer was soft from the inside that it melts straight away and a little hard from the outside because it tandoor’d at the right heat. Paneer Tikka Masala is slightly pink gravy and not like our normal Paneer Tikka Masala. The spices in this gravy was also not over powering the paneer. I had two breads, from which I really like the butter naan because it was softer than the laccha paratha. Laccha partha got a little difficult to break as it got colder.

IMG_3973
Paneer Tikka Masala(33dhs)

My favorite sabzi would be the Cream Paneer if you’re a veg and Cream Chicken if you’re a non veg, it an absolute Must Try!

We ended our tasty punjabi food journey with some lip smacking dessert!

Dessert – Gulab Jamun (Happy dance)

I loveeee Gulab Jamun so much!!! They served us some warm Gulab Jamun’s which were so soft and stuffed with kesar and pista! I had one 1 jamun because we were sharing πŸ˜› If we weren’t I would have eaten two of them πŸ˜› A Must Try!
IMG_3984
Gulab Jamun (15dhs)

Ambience

Lovely ambience, good seating and beautiful interior, very energetic and friendly staff! They’ve outdoor seating also, which you can take advantage in this lovely weather πŸ˜€ Wifi is also available with some good punjabi ganai πŸ˜€

IMG_3945
Cool Interior

Overall –

Very good authentic punjabi food, good staff and not too difficult to find them! They also do home delivery. And surely looking to come back with other friends, totally recommend it!
